How to Reach

El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá lies about eighty five to ninety kilometres away, a drive of roughly two to two and a half hours depending on traffic. Most visitors rent a car or arrange a private transfer, which the hotel can help organise. Leaving Bogotá outside rush hours saves considerable time.

The road from Bogotá descends through Facatativá, Albán and La Vega, dropping from the cool highlands to Villeta's warm valley. Tolls are charged along the route. The landscape changes dramatically, from Andean plateau to tropical vegetation.

Intercity buses from Bogotá's Terminal Salitre run frequently to Villeta and Guaduas. From Villeta, taxis reach the hotel in a few minutes. Buses are inexpensive but slower on weekends.

Continuing beyond Guaduas, the road leads to Honda on the Magdalena River, a historic colonial river port about one and a half hours away. It makes an interesting extension of the trip.

Local taxis and mototaxis operate in Villeta. Agreeing on fares in advance is customary.

On long weekends, traffic into and out of Bogotá is heavy. The Colombian traffic authorities publish plans for exits and returns, and following them helps avoid the worst jams.

Driving at night on mountain roads requires caution due to trucks and curves.
